Sydney Symphony - Stravinskys Firebird

Sydney Symphony - Stravinskys Firebird

A rare opportunity to hear the complete ballet, The Firebird, by Stravinsky. The piece is based on a folk tale of the magical glowing bird of the same name that is both a blessing and a curse to its captor, with a score of glittering orchestration and lush exoticism. This concert also features Bartók’s Second Piano Concerto: imagine Mozart meets Hungarian folk music. One of the most technically demanding concertos in the repertoire, it’s a thrilling display-piece for the virtuosity of pianist Yefim Bronfman, whose Bartók piano concertos won a Grammy for best Classical recording.
