Opera Queensland - Turandot![]() Turandot is the quintessential “ice princess”– a woman without mercy who challenges her suitors to solve three impossible riddles. To fail means instant death. But she doesn’t count on the persistence of Prince Calaf, who pushes the boundaries and puts his love and his life on the line. In the tradition of the famous Greek myth of Oedipus and the Sphinx, this exotic tale of Princess Turandot is transformed through the power of Puccini's music. Brought to the stage by one of Australia's boldest interpreters, Graeme Murphy, the Forbidden City of ancient Peking is full of colour and movement, boasting spectacular sets and costumes only matched by Puccini’s glorious score, including the unforgettable Nessun dorma, one of the most-recorded arias in the opera canon. We welcome back American soprano Cynthia Makris as Turandot and Badri Maisuradze as the persistent Calaf. Unfortunately, we have sold out of our allocation of tickets for this event.
